The game Woody’s Round Up challenges kids to morph into their favorite Toy Story characters. Each child could bring a doll depicting his/her favorite Toy Story character, and dress up to resemble that character; also delivering detailed impressions of that character. The child who wishes to imitate Buzz Lightyear, for instance, could dress in a foil or cloth space suit and exclaim “To Infinity and Beyond!” at the highest volume possible. “Woody” could don a cowboy hat and spin a few rounds with a lasso. Guests could vote as to which child looks and acts the most like his/her favorite character, awarding prizes that include Toy Story party favors, or maybe even a DVD of a “Toy Story” movie. Round ‘em up!
Toy Story Party Ideas
The game Test Your Toy Story Savvy could challenge young guests to learn about and remember key facts about toys depicted in the Toy Story film. After all, while some of the Toy Story playthings (Buzz Lightyear, Woody the cowboy, Cowgirl Jessie, etc.) were created specifically for the film, others—such as Barbie, Ken and Mr. Potato Head—are classic toys with very rich histories. Using supervised Internet and encyclopedia searches, kids could research their favorite toy, then report about them to the group; citing facts such as when the toy was introduced to the market and how the toy has developed or evolved over the years. With Barbie, for example, a guest could talk about the different types of Barbies that have been released over the years, and what first inspired the doll’s creation.
