Mothers Day Party

Mothers Day is a holiday celebrated to honor mothers. It is celebrated on various days around the world. In the United States we celebrate on the 2nd Sunday in May. On this day, families get together with their mothers and grandmothers for parties and gift giving. Mothers receive gifts from their children and grandchildren as well as their spouses and friends.

Mother's Day as celebrated today, traces back to Anna Jarvis who, following the death of her mother on May 9th 1905, devoted the rest of her life to establishing Mothers Day as a national and later international holiday.

Early Mothers Day was mostly marked by women's peace groups. A common early activity was the meeting of groups of mothers whose sons had fought or died on opposite sides of the American Civil War. Mothers Day today, is a festive time of year and a time to honor and celebrate mothers everywhere!
