Chinese New Year Party

Chinese New Year starts with the new moon on the 1st day of the New Yeart and ends with the full moon 15 days later. The first day of the New Year is called the Lantern Festival and this event is celebrated at night with lantern displays and children carrying festive lanterns in a parade. Chinese New Year falls on a different day each year! New Year's Eve and New Year's Day are celebrated as a family affair, a time of reunion, thanksgiving and parties The most vital of all rituals is the sacrifice to the ancestors, uniting living members with those who have passed. This is done with a New Year's Eve dinner arranged for the ancestors at a family banquet table. This great celebration is a communal feast called "surrounding the stove" or weilu! It symbolizes the family unity and honors the past and present generation! Traditional Chinese decorations are done in red and Chinese prints and make a great addition to any party celebration.
